On this episode of the °µÍø½ûÇøion Record Podcast digital media editor Warren Frey speaks with British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) School of °µÍø½ûÇøion and the Environment dean Wayne Hand about the school’s new construction of mass timber structures associate certificate, a blended online and practical program aimed at teaching ironworkers and carpenters the additional skills they need to work with mass timber products.
Hand also spoke about a new mass-timber student residence set to be built on BCIT’s Burnaby campus along with a Trades and Technology Complex which will integrate several skilled trades and technology classes together to give students a more holistic outlook going forward into industries starved for multidisciplinary labour.
