SAINT JOHN, N.B. \u2014 A performing arts centre in southern New Brunswick is receiving a\u00a0$12 million\u00a0investment from the federal government under the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n
The Saint John Theatre Company<\/a> has designed the space to be a home theatre for the Atlantic Repertory Company. The transformed courthouse will house a range of cultural events, while bringing much needed opportunities for professional theatre artists to advance their careers, and training opportunities for theatre artists at all levels, the release adds.<\/p>\n
Financing for a more modest project was announced\u00a0in 2019\u00a0by Canadian Heritage<\/a> and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency<\/a> for the former Sydney Street Courthouse, however, the newly announced funding allows for the expanded redesign of the project, which will triple the size of the existing structure.<\/p>\n
