New manufacturing jobs for B.C.’s Cariboo region

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. – The Government of British Columbia is contributing up to $1.4 million in funding towards two capital projects in the Cariboo region and one in the northeast.

The funding Is through the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund and would see local manufacturers contribute to local supply chains, expand and diversify their operations and add new product lines while establishing new jobs, a release said.

Pacific Bending Inc. is an advanced metal-fabrication company that creates custom products for the forestry sector as well as mining, construction and automotive industries and its largest manufacturing facility is based in 100 Mile House.

The company is receiving as much as $582,000 to support the construction of a new building that will increase capacity to meet current demand, the release said.

Prince-George-based Open Waters Design and Manufacturing Inc. manufactures proprietary solar panels used by the marine and transportation sectors and is receiving as much as $450,000 to retrofit its facility with advanced and automated equipment to allow the company to scale up its new product line to full commercialization.

Grosso Precast Ltd subsidiary Wilson Concrete, based in Fort St. John, manufactures precast concrete for civil, industrial and infrastructure projects throughout northeastern B.C.

The company is receiving as much as $344,000 to purchase new, less carbon-intensive equipment to increase production and quality of products currently manufactured and establish a new product line.
