On this episode of The °µÍø½ûÇøion Record Podcast, digital media editor Warren Frey joins °µÍø½ûÇøConnect chief economist Alex Carrick and senior economist Michael Guckes to discuss the challenges facing a transition towards a new green economy for North America and the rest of the globe.
Alex recently released an article on how manufacturers making vital components like steel, concrete, glass and other materials face challenges switching away from fossil fuels to power their work towards electrification and how that will be a very complicated process. Michael also explained while major metropolises work towards having primarily EV vehicles on their streets there are serious challenges to implementing vehicle chargers and other infrastructure at scale.
Alex also pointed to the challenges of building new mining projects, which will provide vital materials like copper and lithium to power both electronics and the green economy, and Michael pointed to how the world is moving into separate trade blocks that may have varying degrees of interest in moving towards a carbon-neutral or negative world.
