TCR Express: July 21, 2021

This week on TCR Express Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson has the week off but digital media editor Warren Frey has a summary of some of the stories Russell has been working on including a livestreamed candlelight vigil in Kelowna for the five men killed when a crane collapsed in downtown Kelowna, B.C. Russell also wrote about David Fortin, a Metis architect who is designing Saskatoon’s Round Prairie Elders Lodge with elements of traditional Metis construction and culture.

Daily Commercial News staff writer Don Wall has a story about three Brampton construction workers who survived after their trailer was upended by a recent tornado that did extensive damage to the neighborhood but did not take any lives. Staff writer Angela Gismondi covered a recent report from think tank Cardus who released a report examining Community Benefit Agreements across Canada and made six suggestions to make them better. She also talked to Ellen Anselone, Principal, Vice President of Finegold Alexander who is the design lead on the Alhamra United Church project which will be converted into residential condos.
